Thanks to the new version of Fusion and Fusion Studio for Linux, artists have the freedom to choose between Mac OS X, Windows and Linux. Projects are conveniently shareable to facilitate multi-user collaboration, even when multiple platforms are used simultaneously for the same project.
In addition to being compatible with Linux, the public beta version of Fusion 8.2 is already available for free download on the Blackmagic Design website to start working immediately!
Although the free version of Fusion can be used without restrictions for any type of commercial project, the paid version 8.2 Fusion Studio boasts even more powerful features for only $ 995. Fusion Studio users have access to an unlimited number of render nodes and other multi-user collaboration tools. Furthermore, the paid Fusion Studio license is not subject to any subscription or additional maintenance or rendering costs, or connection to the virtual platform.
The native compatibility of Fusion with Linux, Mac OS X and Windows translates into projects and workflows in heterogeneous OS environments, and in the easy integration to existing pipelines with Python and Lua scripting. In addition, Fusion projects can be moved between Mac, Windows and Linux, allowing users to work with the operating system of their choice, and to combine multiple platforms without distinction.
Fusion is the exclusive software for visual effects and motion graphic and digital compositing, used in Hollywood studios for over 25 years, chosen for thousands of features and television series, including blockbusters such as “Thor”, “Edge of Tomorrow – Without Tomorrow” , the trilogy of “Hunger Games” and “The Martian – Survivor”.
With its powerful node-based user interface, Fusion lets you quickly create sophisticated visual effects compositions. Its impressive toolkit is packed with hundreds of features including keying, tracking, rotoscope, image retouching, title animation, particle effects, and more, in an all-3D work space.
With Fusion you can import 3D models, point clouds, camera perspectives and entire 3D scenes from programs like Maya, 3ds Max or Lightwave, for a perfectly integrated rendering. The Deep Pixel tools allow you to add volumetric fog effects and map the light points and shadows of post-rendered objects through World Position passages, giving life to incredible atmospheric effects with a few moments rendering instead of hours.
Since the acquisition of Fusion two years ago, Blackmagic Design engineers have significantly updated the codebase, to facilitate learning to new users without altering the familiar workflow for existing users. Switching to Fusion for Linux is very simple.
Fusion 8.2 Studio for Linux also offers a free license to create an unlimited number of rendering nodes. This solution allows large studios to create huge render farms at no additional cost, revolutionizing the production economy of visual effects for blockbusters and television programs.
Unlike other professional visual effects software, Fusion is not subject to any “fee” for each rendering node. Users of Fusion 8.2 will simply need to add the nodes needed to comply with a rigid roadmap and work with maximum efficiency, at no additional cost.
“Fusion 8.2 for Linux offers an impressive toolkit for creating visual effects and animation graphics,” says Grant Petty, CEO of Blackmagic Design. “Fusion is the only 3D compositing application that can render 3D models, insert volumetric and particle effects, and even animation graphics, and now the download is free and already available to all Linux users! wishing to make a qualitative leap, there is Fusion 8.2 Studio, without subscription and license costs, to create large render farms and optimize productivity at no extra cost! “.
