Senior Visual Effects Artist since 2009 deals with Visual Effects, Computer Graphics and Video Direction in several European countries. Giuseppe worked for Oscars winning studios such as Double Negative, Framestore, Cinesite, GhostVFX and RiseFX.
His credits include Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Pacific Rim, Independence Day: Resurgence and many others.
Professor of Digital Compositing and Senior Artist has an accurate technical and artistic knowledge of film post-production and visual effects.
Giuseppe Lombardi is currently one of the few Italian Trainer to have the official Nuke Trainer by The Foundry®.

Summary:
Introduction to Nuke and Compositing: learning to know all the basic techniques of this art and, through the use of targeted shots and practical training, slowly discover all the many possibilities.
The course is particularly suitable for beginners, who has recently approached this genre and is, the Ideal, also for those coming from other compositing tools like After Effects, Shake or Combustion or nearby sectors like Editing, 3D modeling or Digital photo editing.
Students are advised to bring their personal projects with them.

01 VFX from 1867 to the present day.
– In this first part of the program Giuseppe Lombardi takes you on a journey through
the history of visual effects. Starting from 1867 and going on until today we can make ourselves
account of how visual effects were born, which are the main characters and which techniques and
tools use.
Family names such as George Méliès, Ray Harryhausen, Dennis Murren and
others all this understanding what their contribution was in the science of VFX.
During the entire course we will watch films, companies, software, techniques, people, places and
technologies.
From Blade Runner to Avatar, from hand-painted glass masks to Nuke’s RotoPaint.
Inside the masterclass there will be video interviews, software demos, slides,
illustrations, film extracts and much more.
This course is a must for anyone who is passionate about the visual effects industry.

02 Nuke Introduction: Discover this powerful software
– Nuke’s interface: an exhaustive overview of nuke’s interface and its potential and i
different tools that allow customization.
– What are the Nodes. The revolution of the nodal system.
– Import an image. The viewer, LUTs and colourspace.
– Logarithmic and linear.
– Premultiplex of the images. How it works, how it works.
03 Tools Overview
– Matte and Roto. Create a mask and a Matte using splines.
– The knot of Paint. All the possibilities in deep of this powerful knot.
Merge operations. Plus, over,
– The transformation nodes. Move, scale and crop pixels using the User Interface, the curves
editor and dope sheet.
– The Write node. Render with relative and absolute paths.
04 Exercise: Rotoscoping, Paint, Sky Replacement
