We’ll look at how to do some basic lip-syncing by going to prepare the audio track first, and cleaning up the audio file in Audacity, a good option if you don’t want to spend the money to do some free audio editing tools.
How to animate Metahuman lip sync in Maya?
Export Metahuman character to Maya file in .fbx format.
Once imported into Maya, we will see the face controls of the Metahuman character in the viewport section.
Important go to set audio control, frame rate, playback speed in the Maya preferences panel.
Audacity is very simple to use all you have to do is drag audio into it and there it is so you will see that it is currently two tracks because it is in Stereo you will see a little more variation and pauses between words this will give us it will help to understand if the audio file is clean enough, we could improve it by removing the noise, and improving the mids of the speech audio track.
The lip sync animation, if it’s the first time you’ll work on such a scene will take you maybe a couple of hours to animate your character, just import the audio track into Maya’s timeline, and there go work on the controls facial expressions for lip sync.
