Hi 3D and VFX Artists, today we want to share this talk about mental health and wellbeing in the creative industry.
Thank you for this video, made by Hugo’s Desk, featuring Paul, Lauren, Robert, Melinda, Pat, and Jay, made in collaboration with Cave Academy and VES Visual Effects Society.
Mental health in the workplace is a very important and difficult issue to address, working in the creative sector every day we are all subjected to very high levels of stress.
We are all still struck by the death of one of the most talented 3D artists in the CG scene, Mike Andrew Nash passed away a few months ago, the stress of work, mental health and wellbeing was at the root of his problems.
The purpose of this talk is to open a discussion about the systematic problems we face in the creative industry.
In the VFX and entertainment industry, spend a lot of time talking about breakdowns, award ceremonies, behind the scenes, technology advancements but it rarely talks about the serious problems of mental health in the industry.
We all know this is a difficult topic and even more difficult to solve! Which makes this discussion, in my view, very important.
In this video, we talk about a lot of topics including mental health, toxic environments in some companies, crunch time, management accountability, they share their personal experiences and talk about what can be done to solve these issues.
Our industry is not that young anymore, and I feel it can’t be an excuse any longer.
