Every year VIEW attracts the best talents in the sector from all over the world: its mission is to promote knowledge and inspire all those who work in the world of Computer Graphic, from cinema to design, from animation to medical imaging through the new frontiers of videogames, from “virtual reality” to architecture. Talks, screenings, workshops and masterclasses are hosted, and starting this year we will proceed with the organization of a “game development bootcamp” dedicated to investments for video game start-ups.

Numerous and interesting the Lectio Magistralis scheduled during the days of the VIEW CONFERENCE: the director of the “very incorrect” and hilarious “Sausage Party”, Conrad Vernon (Sony), known for directing the DreamWorks films “Shrek” and “Monsters against Aliens” will be present “; the director of the real winner of the latest film season “Zootropolis”, Byron Howard (Disney Animation Studios); “Boog & Elliott 4” director David Feiss (Sony Pictures Animation); “Storks on a Mission” producer Brad Lewis (Warner Bros); and Don Greenberg, Jacob Gould Schurman, Professor of Computer Graphics, pioneer of digital graphics along with Pat Harahan, Alvey Ray Smith and Ed Catmull.

VIEW is a conference aimed at creatives providing the rare opportunity to learn from the best. Each edition offers a series of exceptional workshops led by true “gurus” of the digital media industry.
For example, this year they will be in the View:

Byron Howard will deliver an unmissable lecture on “The DNA of Disney Character Design”;

Sharon Calahan, excellent director of photography and Lighting Supervisor of many Pixar successes, nicknamed “the goddess of light”, will hold a seminar on the use of color and light: we recall that Sharon was recently welcomed among the members of the illustrious American Society of Cinematographers (ASC), the first to come exclusively from the world of animation.

Donnald Greenberg will delight the public with a workshop on visual images in the digital age and “Virtual Reality”;

Marc Haimes, the screenwriter of “Kubo and the Magic Sword”, Laika’s latest masterpiece, will hold a scriptwriting workshop and Davis Feiss will conduct a masterclass on the art of storyboarding related to animated feature films.

This year, as anticipated, ample space will be given to video games and these are some of the highlights:
Josh Holmes, creator of the Halo franchise; Adam Volker of Moonbot Studios; Siobhan Reddy, Director of Media Molecule; Daryl Anselmo of Zinga; Michael Staniszewski of Plastic – Demo; Daniel Fountain, Lumino City; Adam Orth from Three One Zero; Matt Omernick, CEO and co-founder of Akili Interactive – who is making “Evo”, the first game approved by the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) to treat ADHD (Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder), based on UCSF research (Matt will talk to Adam Gazzaley, a distinguished American neuroscientist at the University of California, San Francisco – UCSF).

It doesn’t end here: scheduled for the Animation, Special Effects and Virtual Reality sectors, here are delicious insights on “In Search of Dory” with John Halstead (Pixar); on “Kubo and the Magic Sword” with Steve Emerson (Laika); on the new “live action / VR” version of “The Jungle Book”, with Audrey Ferrara of the London-based Motion Picture Company (MPC). On “Pearl”, with Tuna Bora for a new “Google Spotlight Story”; on “Rain or Shine”, with Felix Massei (Nexus); on “Invasion” with Maureen Fan (Baobab); and on “Daydream”, with Brian Pullen, (Google VR).

And then there is also plenty of space for recruitment and live portfolio review: with Pluralsight on board, specific content will be organized for job seekers, and Pearson College, Escape Studios, Rainbow, SCAD and Sony Pictures Image works will also participate in the match.

The View Conference will also be preceded by the VIEWFest review, which also returns from 21 to 23 October at the Massimo cinema, the official hall of the National Cinema Museum. Here too, there are many appointments not to be missed in the three-day film of VF, starting with the European preview of Siggraph’s Computer Animation Festival, presented to the Turin public by the director of the 2016 edition, Roy C. Anthony.

Again director Byron Howard (Disney Animation Studios) will personally present to the public a special vision of the blockbuster “Zootropolis”, a circus and audience champion, capable of grossing over $ 1 billion at the international box office.

Finally, as already mentioned, a lot of space from this year will be reserved for the world of videogames, for which an Acceleration Program and an Investment Pitch have also been planned. Recently launched video game companies will have until 9 October to apply and participate in an “accelerated program”, as well as have the opportunity to hold a self-promotion in front of 8-10 high-level international experts and equity investors with experience in investing in this sector, or with a financial interest in video games (business angels, family offices, venture capital funds).

The contest is open to console, mobile, social, casual and online video game companies without any restrictions on gender, platform or distribution method. Middleware, publishing and distribution companies are considered eligible
